IT Help Desk Support Specialist

Job Summary

Summary/Objective

Offer support and technical assistance to customers and staff who are using software, hardware, or other computer systems and need help completing tasks or troubleshooting problems through diagnostic tests and remote access to their computers.
This position is responsible for providing first level support to end-users.  Strong computer skills and the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems in both PC and Mac environments.   Experience with network troubleshooting and analysis.  Good customer service skills.  Writing and editing skills to aid in the creation and updating of user manuals.  Assist with administering computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long range requirements and protection (SQL).  Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools; establishes and maintains security and integrity controls; formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards relating to database management.   Report writing in Crystal Reports; use of SQL

Essential Functions
  • Communicate effectively with local and remote users to resolve IT issues
  • Create and revise end-user training materials and technical documentation; provide training
  • Generate reports; SQL, Crystal Reports,
  • Provide user assistance with WMS/POS system (CounterPoint).
  • Responsible for data management and data security.
Physical Requirements
  • Office environment, with use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  • Required to talk and hear and see. 
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to lift, carry and use a keyboard.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology or related field or comparable years of experience.
  • Two to three years of IT customer support.
  • High proficiency with MS Office platform.
  • MS Certification preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Strong analytical and detail-orientation skills.

The role of Inside Wholesale Salesperson contributes to the success of MGE Wholesale by maintaining a working knowledge of firearms, cutlery and accessories and using this knowledge to sell products to our customers. The Inside Wholesale Salesperson will be responsible for achieving inside sales revenue goals by obtaining and up-selling orders, creating customer satisfaction, and adding value to the customer’s buying experience.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Obtain orders by answering phone calls, verifying and entering items, shepherding orders to fulfillment, explaining stock-outs and expected delivery dates.
  • Increase orders by suggesting related items, explaining features, and checking customer’s buying history.
  • Build own customer list and open customer accounts by obtaining customer agreement and collecting customer information via callouts, cold calls and internet.
  • Keep up-to-date with new products.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of processes.
  • Prepare, generate and follow up on verbal or written quotations to secure orders or determine reason for loss of order.
  • Review open customer order reports and takes action on open items, specifically items that may be at risk in meeting the customer’s promised delivery date.
  • Performs other duties as required.
 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous sales and customer service experience preferred.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of firearms.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and stay objective and fair when dealing with sensitive situations.
